Jewell has focused her career on working with children, adolescents, and adults who have suffered trauma, helping them move toward healing and providing their families the education and assistance they need to support them on their journey. She fully enacts the philosophy of Houston Family Counseling, including the whole family in setting therapeutic goals and motivating children and adolescents to achieve them. She well knows that parents are her strongest allies in treating youth, and has experience providing education and support to parents invested in seeing their children reach their full emotional, relational, educational, and social potentials.
Having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors in psychology from Texas State University, and with an average of 4.0 from her master’s in mental health counseling program there, Jewell has enough skill and knowledge to work with clients with a broad range of struggles, no matter how severe or treatment resistant. As a postgraduate, she has trained extensively in evidence based treatments such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. Jewell believes in the value of data, and so regularly utilizes empirically validated, brief screening tools to gauge her client’s progress toward their therapeutic goals.
