Sheri Dunn

MA, LPC-Asosciate

Supervised by Elizabeth Arredondo, MA, LPC-S

With a Master of Education in Marriage and Family Counseling from Lamar University and a bachelors in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, Sheri’s education has well prepared her to offer evidence based treatments such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Rational Emotive Therapy to clients of all ages.

Sheri comes to Houston Family Counseling from a position as an outpatient adolescent therapist at a highly regarded local psychiatric hospital. There, she worked with teens and their families to gain skills for coping with and managing issues surrounding depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and behavioral struggles. Sheri has also worked with adolescents in community mental health settings who are struggling with relational and personal issues. Needless to say, Sheri “speaks teen.” However, her reach has extended well beyond the adolescent population.

Sheri has experience working with young children, adult individuals, couples, and families in community mental health settings. With her warm, engaging presence, she has walked alongside clients as they struggle through mental health challenges, life transitions, relational difficulties, grief, poor self-esteem, and trauma.

Sheri is pursuing training in play therapy so that she can continue to meet the needs of young children, helping them and their parents navigate challenges early, learning coping skills that set the stage for improved mental health across their life spans. She is also constantly in pursuit of new evidence based therapies to work with couples and families who are facing relational difficulties.
