Supervised by Susan Pollard, PhD
Katie is currently enrolled in Fielding University’s Clinical Psychology graduate program, pursuing her PhD. She is a third year doctoral student, and has completed extensive coursework, and also a practicum experience in assessing children, adolescents, and adults to better understand their psychological struggles. She is able to apply this knowledge and experience to help her therapy clients gain clearer insight into their feelings and behaviors.
Katie’s graduate studies and work experiences have prepared her to work with clients of all ages facing difficult life circumstances and/or mental health diagnoses. She can utilize play based and cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) to help children deal with issues such as anxiety, trauma, and behavioral difficulties. She draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and solution focused therapy to help teens gain skills in regulating their emotions and maintaining healthy relationships. With individual adults, Katie draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities to help her clients understand their feelings and behaviors and make meaningful changes in the ways they think and experience life.
While she is honing her skills at HFC, Katie is under the supervision Susan Pollard, PhD, a licensed psychologist, and also Elizabeth Arredondo, LPC-S, HFC’s director. At her university, she receives even more supervision and training. Working with Katie affords clients not just one, but four therapists strategizing ways to help them achieve their goals.
